Placido Costanzi
Placido Costanzi (1702–1759) was an Italian Late Baroque painter, probably born in Rome into a family of goldsmiths and gemstone engravers. He studied under Francesco Trevisani and Benedetto Luti, later developing a more classical style inspired by Raphael and Domenichino. He produced religious paintings, portraits, historical scenes, and decorations for churches and palaces, receiving commissions from prominent Italian families and foreign patrons. In 1741, he joined the Academy of Saint Luke in Rome, becoming its president in 1758.
